The first female deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state Barrister Valerie Ebe was sworn in on the 4th Nov., 2012. The first woman in the state's 25-year history to occupy such a position.
Barrister Ebe was sworn in five days after the resignation of former Dep Governor, Nsima Ekere, who left because of his alleged act of disloyalty to the governor.
